This work is from my latest collection,  celebrating  connections in our lives with pattern and colour , – usually decorative and always beautiful to someone: old and new layers of wallpapers, carpets, jewellery, objects of delight, …these pieces are painted on panels of ply, gesso, and acrylic paint, and connected with jewellery chain.
If anyone is .interested in seeing other pieces from this collection they are at  next door gallery in Hinemoa street, Birkenhead.

Rachel graduated from Auckland University with a Music Degree majoring in Conducting under the tutelage of Juan Matteucci.

Exchanging baton for brush, her career as an artist began in Hong Kong where her work became quickly recognised for its combination of rich layers of colour, ancient textures and affinity with Asian culture and festivals.

Now living in new Zealand, Rachel works from her studio in Devonport  and still reaches for the red, magenta and orange paint tubes …
